Lockheed Martin signed a contract with the U.S. Army, initially worth $281 million to develop the Sentinel A4 radar system, a high-performance modification of the Sentinel A3 (AN/MPQ-64A3) air and missile-defense radar that updates and improves the existing Sentinel capability against cruise missiles, unmanned aerial systems, and rotary-/fixed-wing threats.

Raytheon attained more than $500 million in a modified contract for research and development (R&D) of two types of advanced surveillance radar systems. An A/D (Analog-to-Digital) converter, frequently abbreviated as ADC, accepts an analog voltage at the input and produces a digital representation of that voltage at the output that’s called a “sample”. The two primary characteristics of A/Ds are the rate of conversion or sampling rate, expressed in samples per second, and the accuracy of each digital sample expressed as the number of binary bits or decimal digits per sample. The difference in sample rates between these two prominent examples is a staggering 10 orders of magnitude.
